This week we are continuing with improving our locational knowledge of the Earth. Last week we learnt about the Equator and the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. Now we will look at the hemispheres and the lines of longitude and latitude and revise some of last week’s learning from the Oak Academy. Work through the activities, and write your work into your exercise book, take a photo and email in at least one piece to our y6 email.

OUTDOOR LEARNING

Outdoor Learning.... How to Make a Sound Map

For outdoor learning this week have a go at making a sound map. Watch Nicky showing you how to create a fun sound map using just your senses, paper, pencils and a timer. Once you have made a sound map you could colour it to show the colours of nature as well or you could even collect some things from nature that you find in your garden or on your daily walk including leaves, petals or twigs and create a nature map for the space you are in. Remember to wash your hands if you collect any natural materials.

READING

Friday - W.A.L.T - Identify the themes and messages of the story

There are no additional questions to answer this week. Please complete the mini tasks each day and then the task to write a diary at the end of the unit replaces the questions you would have had.

ENGLISH

Today you will be doing a grammar activity. This is what you should see when you click the WALT. (RED – your WALT is below)

WALT - begin to recognise formal language and structures

If you look at the picture you will see the numbers 1,2,3,4 at the bottom. Watch the video and read all the information there is. There are some activities on the tabs at the bottom.

TAB NUMBERS: 

1) LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Watch the clip and read the information ( You do not need to do the word challenge)

2)THE GRAMMAR BIT: Read through the task. You can discuss this with a parent / sibling or just think about it yourself. You do not need to write anything. 

3)WHITEBOARD CHALLENGE: Have a go at challenge 1 and challenge 2 as we would do in class to learn a new skill. (You do not need to do Challenge 3)

4) WRITING IDEAS: You only need to do the PDF activity below here (This is the same as the downloadable 'Inspired by Nature Worksheet' on the tab. This is your main writing outcome for the lesson and is the only piece of work you need to send in for English.    

 

 When you have finished, open your spellings and start to learn them.

(You can do this over the weekend  and into next week as you would do normally to learn them.)

When you have watched the video and read all the information, click on the link below and complete the activity. The activity below matches the one on the link. This is the only writing task you need to do for English.

 

 When you have finished, open your spellings and start to learn them. You can keep learning them over the weekend and into next week as you would do when in school.
