CHALLENGE: Why not try taking your pulse after each session and recording it each day?

  • Plus, a message from our very own Mr Blakeman:

While children are away from school at the moment there are lots of ways to keep active at home. There are some good free resources at the Youth Sports Trust website. They are free, do not require a login and are designed to be used with little space or specific equipment. Access them here: https://www.youthsporttrust.org/pe-home-learning

If you use Twitter you can search @Youth SportsTrust as a new activity will be added daily. Give it a go and see and share your experiences!

  • If you are an aspiring dancer, Darcey Bussell and Oti Mabuse are offering kids dance classes:

Activity of the day is catching practice in pairs. If you don't have a ball you can use a balled up pair of scocks, clean ones only please!

Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire School Games groups have come together to produce a fantastic A-Z of sporting activities for you to all try at home. School Games are the group that organise most of our local school sports competitions. A stands for ATHLETICS and we start with the Standing Long Jump. Children have all done this as part of their termly personal bests. Remember practice makes perfect and you'll smash your personal bests when we're back at school. Lie down and mark your height on the floor - can you jump as far as you are tall?

B is for Basketball. If you have safe space outside try dribbling a ball by pushing it down from the top. How many bounces can you do in 60 seconds? Not a good idea indoors though if people live underneath your flat! Basketballers are BIG, NBA player Manute Bol was 7 feet and 7 inches tall. Mr Blakeman is 5 feet and 11 inches tall (6 feet in his trainers!). How many metres/ centimetres is this?

ow many times can you skip in 60 seconds? Try two footed hops if you don't have a skipping rope. This is good practice for your speed bounce personal bests.

D is dodgeball and a MUGA favourite for Year 1s up to Year 6s. This is a great warm up game to use at home. Choose one catcher and one thrower. The thrower says CATCH or DODGE when they throw the ball and the catcher has to do the opposite - so catch means dodge and dodge means catch, simple! As ever use rolled up socks or a small, soft toy if you don't have a ball.

E is for ENDURANCE or keeping going for a long time when you are very tired, especially when running! How far can you run in 13 minutes? REMEMBER: loose arms and low knees when running for a long time and imagine you are running MUGA laps. We can't all be Mo Farah and run 5km in that time but you might run 1km or' more. YOU CAN DO THE MOBOT (see photo) when you have finished.

F IS FOR FOOTBALL! Try dribbling a ball in and out of cones like we do in the MUGA. Without the school cones you can use small toys, objects or balled up socks or tops. Try 5 cones and remember to keep your head over the ball and use the inside of your foot. GOOD LUCK. To make it more difficult use more cones or a smaller ball, like a tennis ball. What sport will begin with the letter G tomorrow?
